During a Reiki treatment the recipient lies on a treatment table, fully clothed except for footwear. Energy, or ‘chi’ is then channelled through the practitioner’s hands which are placed on, or slightly above, the body of the recipient. The practitioner will move to different parts of the body depending on where she is ‘directed’ to treat.
The recipient may feel heat or tingling from the practitioner’s hands. Sometimes people see coloured lights or feel they are floating, or very heavy. Treatments vary, bringing a different experience each time as the cumulative effects of Reiki allow the body’s health to improve.
